6. Gavel

Isn't it a sight to marvel?
Of just how many of them holding the gavel.
Isn't it a little too peculiar to be stuck
with them who said it was on sheer dumb luck.

Tell me, is this a trend, is this wise?
Am I the only one begrudging the compromise?
Pray, do I need to get myself a gavel.
So I can stand equally stable?

Whomever did give us the authority, pray tell?
The whispering breeze, or the salty sea smell?
To whom did we really owe our thanks to
For letting us hold the gavel a little too long than we knew?

Take this one to heart, if you must.
Thump on the gavel, if it'll free away your dust.
Contradict me, if you will,
Have no worries, I do not steal.

But the gavel, let's just let it be.
Leave it behind the glass, locked, for others to see.
